OCTOBER CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Hey, fairybros! For the month of October we'll be mixing things up! As a response to player interest in a certain Halloween Ball, we've got a lot of special tricks up our sleeves, featuring three excellent surprises. But first! This month's event ...

The Lost Moon GENRE: ACTION/STRATEGY/MAGIC | DURATION: 03-13 OCTOBER

SUMMARY On the evening of October 3rd, the moon appears to flicker and fall out of the sky to the south, right over Boglach. This is a source of joy for the Unseelie, who find they have a twofold increase in power and they are ordered to keep the Seelie from putting the moon back in its place. All Seelie characters will find their powers weakened by half, and ordered to head south to save the moon, whom the birds have told the Seelie monarchs has become trapped down under a great rock by the dark creatures and must be freed.

UNSEELIE
The moon's place was weakened by the lack of stars, and the Unseelie High-Queen has decided to take advantage of its fall! She will send a (handwaved) proclamation calling for all Unseelie throughout the Drabwurld to speak the words 'Riddles in the Dark' at nightfall during the time of the event! Doing so will cause them to be transported to the cave where her imps have hidden away the moon, which shall take the form of a giant silver disk. The mission is simply to guard it from the Seelie! This job will be made harder as after it is touched, the moon will change shape, and try to flee both captors and rescuers! It may become a silver hare, dog, crab, bird, doe, moth, cat, bear... you name it! As of October 8th, it will have escaped Unseelie hands entirely, leading them AND the Seelie through a merry chase through the tunnels connected to the cave it had been guarded in!

SEELIE
Meanwhile, back in Caer Glaem and after another handwaved proclamation, the Seelie High-King will issue his own forces into the world to recover the moon, noting that it must be recovered for the High Queen to wake from her ensorcelled sleep! At dawn or dusk, Seelie shardbearers need only say 'Look for the Light' to be transported to the wooded, remote area just outside the cave system where the moon is being kept! They must dive in, discover where the Unseelie are holding the moon, and then return it to Caer Glaem by any means! Individuals can be transported into the territories around each stronghold on any day of the event.

The catch is that no one from either court returns before their quest is over. Regardless of participation and a win/fail recovering the items, all who participate will qualify for an October boon. So stick it out! Armour, weapons and torches (for light) are available to all team members although they will only have an hour to make ready ... because the monarchs won't be asking for their help this time, they'll be demanding it! In either case, the fate of the moon will be decided by 00:01 GMT the morning of October 13th as a result of player plotting! With the battle won or lost, shardbearers may speak 'Hold My Foes' to have their own personal fairy-ring to travel back to their respective court.

Celebrating Samhain DURATION: 25-30 OCTOBER

SUMMARY Everything in the drabwurld stops for Samhain, and this year it will pass from the 25th to the 30th, each new day simply an extension of a misted, starry night, devoid of sun or moon! All feuds are forgotten over Samhain in favor of avoiding the Black Shuck instead, whose shall prowl the drabwurld in search of spirits who have escaped him. His power is so immense that to make his hunting easier, he has altered the manner of the world for these nights; a single step might unwittingly take one out of their room in a castle to a remote forest, from one coast to another... anywhere in the drabwurld. It is custom that all wear masks and behave differently so that they are not made his targets, and all folk, from the loftiest kings to the lowest servants, engage in revelry. All crimes committed in this time are pardoned. Many NPCs (including the monarchs!) will be engaged in this event, and Black Shuck himself will walk among the revelers! At the end of this festival, characters wind up wherever on the map they desire to be.

MONTHLY OVERVIEW

03rd OCTOBER (11pm IC) • EVENT START. Both courts issue royal proclamations on the network each calling for "Champions". The instructions for their respective missions will be detailed. (There will be a NPC announcement!) All Champions have an hour to make ready.
03rd OCTOBER (midnight IC) • A fairy or imp will get the attention of all shardbearers who have said the right words. Flying or running around the Champion, flowers (sweet or poisonous) will sprout in a fairy-ring. Upon completion, the person inside will have vanished, arriving alongside the rest of their team-mates.
08th OCTOBER • The Moon will have been lost by the Unseelie! Depending on player-plots, it may have been found by the Seelie.
13th OCTOBER • EVENT CLOSES. If "Hold My Foes" has not been spoken by sunset ICly on the 19th, team-members will not be transported back to their castle and will lose the ability to return to their stronghold via a fairy-ring. (It's a long, long, long walk home from the Desolate Lands!)
18th OCTOBER • Word penetrates both castles of bloody battles being fought between the gathered forces of Maupertius and an unknown force called 'the Red Hand'.
20th OCTOBER (00:01am LONDON GMT) • The boon request post goes up on the OOC community. You will be asked to state your character's request and link to proof of having participated in the event. Mods will be around to approve or deny these.
24TH OCTOBER (00:01am LONDON GMT) • Boon requests close!
25th OCTOBER • 1) THE HALLOWEEN EVENT OPENS. 2) Approved or altered, boons are ICLY received today when characters wake up.
26th OCTOBER (00:01am LONDON GMT) • ACTIVITY CHECK.
30th OCTOBER (00:01am LONDON GMT) • ACTIVITY CHECK ENDS.
01st NOVEMBER (00:01am LONDON GMT) NEW CALENDAR OF EVENTS.

The next Calendar of Events post will go up to cover all of November, with the next Test Drive Meme up around a week before reserves open. Weather will be bursts of cold rains, grey skies and lots of mist in the mornings. Nights will be wet and growing colder throughout the month. Please feel free to use this as a plotting post. Maleficent: Will be outraged at the loss of the moon and the impudence of the Unseelie for taking it. She'll be signing up to attempt to win it back and I'd love to have her team up with others in an attempt to get her to learn how to work with others in general, let alone well.

Stiles: I believe Stiles will be transporting Jon/Arya back to Caer Glaem to meet up with Bran before he goes to snag Malia, but I'd like him to also go on the QUEST FOR THE MOON, because A) The Unseelie suck, bro, and B) The moon is sort of important to his gf's cycle of... stuff. >> So, yeah. Would happily match him up in a team or w/friends to go get the moon back. Or try, at least.

Veronica: Is on a boat with a mad pirate on a quest, so she gives no bloops about the moon. Sorry, moon.

PLOTTING POSTS

Jack Sparrow will be very interested in the moon. Not so much in guarding it, but in somehow restoring it. The Black Pearl, I assume, will become quite sad without a moon in the sky. Sad and slow. Jack will secretly want the moon to return to the sky. So he'll go in to "guard" it in hopes of getting it back into the sky, end up unable to leave, and also end up very, very cranky.

Waver Velvet/Lord El Melloi II | Fate/zero

Waver: will not be an active part of this event, as he will be opening Angry Faerie Starbucks on Tuesday for everyone who is looking to make some headway in the matter of neutrality and refusing to participate in the war.

That said, he will be keeping a close eye on the lockets and if anyone contacts him he will do what he can.

she's gonna go hardass motherfucker to find and get the moon back since she is basically part light spirit and she takes this Very Seriously so if anyone wants to arrange something with her, let me know! she'll be bringing appa and naga as well for extra muscle. it's likely that mako (jaywalks), bolin (bolincredible), and jinora (demonstrations) will be coming with her because seelie benders sticking together yeah!!

SO UH YEAH she's not going to be letting up, she's going to be ruthless as hell trying to get the moon back.

HICCUP will be going along to the cave to TRY AND REASON WITH THESE BATSHIT UNSEELIE. this doesn't seem like such a great idea, okay, that's the effing moon yo.

THRANDUIL is going to freak out like most of the elves probably will and join in the seelie forces trying to take the moon back. he defected a while ago but fuck no, put the moon back in the sky.

Harry Potter and the Month of Napping

Harry would normally want to go on the event and do what he can to stop people from killing each other, but he is going to go to sleep instead. He is going to plant his butt somewhere, eat everything, sleep as much as he can, and take a vacay. He owes several people drinks and he would like to make good on that.

He may or may not be issuing an invite for Alyosha's wake. Deets to come.

MAKO WILL BE GIVING FUCKS ABOUT THE MOON BECAUSE wow this has happened before dontchaknow.

he is good for lighting dark hallways even at half power, and also just... general lighting things on fire.

it is most likely he will be joined by korra sangilak, bolin bolincredible, and jinora demonstrations because team avatar is a TEAM... he's also going to be that asshole bringing an infant to the fight because he's a working single father. and the baby is psychic.

mako will suggest to the seelies that they pick complementary pairs to work in so everyone has roughly one full power amount between them.

HERMIONE is travelling with Legolas but. Hey. The moon is important, so she will be taking part in trying to do whatever she can to help bring things back to normal. After a month of feeling pretty useless considering her loss of magic and kidnapping she is going to go out of her way to try and be helpful!!

RENLY is no swordsman and will do what he can but it's unlikely that he'll do a lot of fighting, but he'll still try! He has his armour, his mount and his head so he'll do what he can, depending on who else is going. If the Starks + Marge are staying behind he might stay back with them to take care of his stupid wards C:

ERIK is going to be trolling the network as Adler while going out with Morgana (I imagine, he needs his Queen) to test out his new firebendingflame control powers. He's decided that working for the queen might work out in his favour so he's content to do as she asks for a little while, at least until he can break away on his own. Anyone wanna fight? B)

Piper will be a Champion for the Seelie and I think I'll either have her chase after the moon itself, or cover other Seelie who are. See, she doesn't want to actually hurt people. She's used to fighting monsters who turn to dust and are reborn in Tartarus, so drawing blood is the very last resort here. She only wants to defend her fellow Unseelie and herself.

ALSO! Her charmspeak (a form of mental coercion) will be at half power so it's not going to be very effective. If your character is pretty weak-minded then it'd probably still work, so let me know if you'd like her to charmspeak your character into not attacking her group/letting them pass/whatever. Anyone of normal will or strong will don't have to worry about her charmspeak working and I'll add that to the prose of threads too when she tries it.

Saralegui may or may not get in on all the moon shenanigans. Depends on how the Treun stuff goes. He might have other questing to do that would take priority, but we'll see how all that works out. If he does get involved though, dear god. He's might be a nightmare this month, depending on how that whole "doubled power" thing affects his mind control shit.

Jason meanwhile will most definitely be getting in on all that because he's a good boy and maybe a little obligated to help save the moon. His sister is a Hunter of Artemis, pretty sure she'd be pissed if he didn't try to help the moon out. He'll be sticking with the demigod squad (especially new arrivals) super hardcore and probably fussing over everyone, sorry.

Zelos will be willing to help out find the moon because being at half-powered sucks plus the moon spirit in his world is hella fine so that makes him fond of the thing! So if anyone wants this guy on your team, let me know!

Thor ain't here for this half power bullshit. LET'S GO SAVE THE MOON. I'm down for him joining a team and going on a ~quest to save the moon. I'd also be okay with it if he got his ass massively handed to him due to not being at full power. I wish I had cooler ideas but I slept like 2 hours last night so what I need is to go crash. Anyway, Thor is on team bring back the powers moon.

Ryan will be willing to find the moon because excuse you he just got powers and that's super-rude to half them. He's not exactly a fighter or what-have-you but he does have stealth and and agility and speed on his side.

Also he's learned a lot about the Unseelie and what they've done in recent history and he's kind of not okay with that. So. Go fight win.

sansa stark is way too involved with her own drama. that said she is keenly aware that she might need a boon for cothromach's sake and might get involved with this if there's a good escort or two willing to help her out. in this regard she'd honestly only be going because she knows she might need the boon. so i'm kinda open on that.

buffy summers is too cool and awesome for your silly boons you silly courts. she's going to abstain because she doesn't like playing by their rules. so you can expect some sulking.

Jack isn't so much concerned with the moon as he is with wanting to talk to it. The moon is what made him what he is and what's given him his powers without knowing why. So he'll be hunting it down, wanting to catch it and try to have a conversation more so than anything. His frost powers will be amplified as well, so it'll get kind of chilly being around him.

Anthony and Toboe are both going after the moon on the Seelie end! The later is a wolf, come now, it'd be silly to let him leave it stolen and the former's made it some personal duty to indefinitely combat/look into combatting the darkening of the world that Solais spoke of - and feels a compulsion to help Solais, for that matter, given where he stands by now.

He said he'd be headed for Cothromach after the Royal Audience, however, so he'll be feeling very guilty about it unless he can confirm or, better yet, join up with anyone from there who'd be going!

PERCY will be running into this hero-style, as per. He'll Champion for Seelie, and probably try to round up some/most of the demigod squad to see if they'll go with him. If someone sees him heading out with his friends they're welcome to come along, Percy's getting used to the idea of quests taking more than three people to tackle!

GABRANTH will...actually I'm not sure yet how to motivate him into helping with the moon recovery effort, as he's not likely to be interested in helping for help's sake, but I'd still like to get him involved however I can!!

J'SAIRR on the other hand is nooot into keeping the moon captive... the Khajiit are canonically bound to the moons of his home, and even though he's now very, very far from Tamriel, he still feels a responsibility towards keeping the moon in its rightful place! so are there any other Unseelie with him, or.....?!

Luke is so signing up to steal the moon back as he wants to be known as The Moon Thief as well as The Dara Thief. he's in the dwarf place atm but fortunately asked for shoes that will teleport him to places where he's been, so! he's coming back home, baby! he also has a really cool sword, knows where he's going even if he's never been in the terrain before because he has a built-in gps, and he has a boon that will guide him where he seeks. so, I think he's really right for this mission.

Zuko is going to be in Seelie territory as per Korra's invitation and possibly walk off a cliff because he is really, really conflicted over the moon business. I think if the guys go hunt down the moon he might use that break to go do his mission, which I need to go get details for ...

both dudes are in Seelie territory, lets see how everyone attempts to make me playercest. 8|

Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (Lancer) | Fate/Zero

Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (Lancer): He is a newbie, but he will be looking to do whatever he can to get the moon back. Even at half power, he is still going to be very fast and agile. Also, he is a very skilled fighter so if actual fighters are needed, he will be there!

I am posting his intro at the feast tonight, but if there is anyone who want to pull him into a group, I will be very happy to work with them no matter if they have met or not!

THE OUTSIDER will be helping guard the moon because the moon not being in the sky seems very interesting, which lbh is what he's the most concerned about. When the moon escapes, he can sense it and will therefore give chase/tell everyone else where it is. He'll also be pulling up a bunch of dead things to help guard/chase it.

ARIADNE is pretty unsure about this moon out of the sky business, especially in light of Ben's recent post! She'll be trying to talk to the moon while 'guarding' it because it's a magical world so why NOT try to talk to it? She can also teleport wherever she wants during this event and will likely take full advantage of that fact.

JOHN is going to be setting up training for Seelie shardbearers with Lancelot. This will be an ongoing thing! He'll be going to Alyosha's wake, if there is one. He will probably try to help get the moon as well, because wtf put the moon where it belongs. Basically he's going to have a busy month.

And all three will be at the masquerade!
