HELLO EVERYONE!
I know there's a plotting doc/plotting post for the current game event but my thing kind of actually needs a huge PERMISSIONS POST. And that's what this is!
So Kanata here comes from a magical, glowy idol anime who sing to you about hopes, dreams, and love in the middle of combat. It's also all about creating a constellation of hope across the universe so for her the stars/moon is a big thing. But also because of double-powered Unseelie things she'll be reaching the level of what her canon calls CENTER NOVA.
The Center Nova is the star that shines the most brightly in 00 because, uh, they sort of become a Goddess of Hope and Music. (Basically) They glow intensely like a sung and are generally just really blinding, so that's one thing to keep in mind. The other thing is that part of the reason they sing in combat is one they're idols-- that's what they do-- but there's a side-effect. At their most basic level, the idols are able to sway others into enjoying their music. At Center Nova level they can make an entire army of people retreat.
So it's incredibly godmoddy, but there's a couple hitches with it: One, idols can't enforce their wills on you. Which sounds strange-- but essentially, if your character was a blood thirsty lunatic and only knew how to murder people singing about loving people isn't going to work. The character has to have even a small piece of them that doesn't want to murder people to bring that out in them. So they're basically bringing out their 'inner selves' so to speak. They're also able to have some healing powers!
Essentially what they can do is make people stop fighting and empower the others around them with love and hope. It gets to be pretty extreme (like the aforementioned Center Nova making a fleet retreat) and so it's not something I want to just throw at people randomly. Currently, anytime I play her in game I usually write 'you might get an impression of love and hope' so I am really super careful about it and try to avoid it.
...Unfortunately, Kanata is really super idol-y in fight moments because that's where she shines the most brightly so between that + power up it's a definite thing right now. Mostly, what I intend for her to do is sing and empower both sides and put shields in where necessary. The singing and making you feel at home/drawn to your inner roots thing is kind of a side-effect though so!
What I want to know is who would be okay playing with this and/or how far would you be okay with it to go? I won't have her so influential on people to have them stand down or anything unless they player wants it. But at the least there would be definite wavering of if they really want to fight someone else in the immediate vicinity (and perhaps a little further because again shining star but i don't want to force it on anyone!).
HOPEFULLY THIS MAKES SENSE AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK ;U; It's kind of an intense power and I don't want to step in toes! This is just a thing that happens and a plot she'd get behind.
