JANUARY CALENDAR

We hope you enjoy the holidays and have a happy New Year! Eachdraidh will be kicking off 2016 with some odd activity and a trip to the ocean that will lead into future events - check it out!

We’ve also created an optional COURT ACTIVITY PAGE! Character up to something? Do they want to be up to something? Do they have information to share? Let everyone know here! Characters who contribute a great deal toward their faction will be rewarded! This is another part toward our replacement of the previous boon system, though there is also a section for shardless and native characters to input information and potentially receive rewards -- something the previous system did not offer.

The mod team has recently been made aware of some player concerns regarding our presence in the game. We're still around and still invested; RL circumstances have made the past few months busier than expected, and December was meant to be a breather for everyone after the end of the Void plot and with the holidays. While we know there have been concerns about responses to feedback in the past, the modteam has undergone several changes over the past year - please don't be afraid to bring your concerns and questions to us so that we can address them! (Right now, due to the holidays, there may still be a delay in responding, but we can promise that we do read everything even if it takes us a bit to formulate a response.)

Blood and Plunder
GENRE: ACTION/ADVENTURE | DURATION: 09-16 January

SUMMARY “Skies be kind. Seas be calm.” Wind howls, making the shutters clatter in staccato against the walls of a small house. A small fire is lit in the hearth, a half-empty pot of stew over it slowly coming to a boil, just enough to disguise the smell of fish from the nearby beach. Heavily pregnant, the woman of the house sighs as she tightens her shawl around her shoulders. Her husband is late, returning to her from his time at sea; her cupboard is nearing empty and prices in the markets having spiked. She fears the worst, eyes slipping closed as the wind increases in pitch. “Skies be kind. Seas be calm.” And predators, find some other prey.

A massive group of pirates have been attacking trade routes around Briste! If they aren’t stopped, various settlements could run out of food and supplies for the winter. Eager to attempt to secure alliances with these settlements, and requiring open trade routes themselves, each court has provided a ship and crew to engage the pirates and attempt to secure what they’ve stolen. They’ve also promised the help of their best and brightest: you!

Upon arrival in Briste, characters will be sent to one of the following ships based on court affiliation:
The Great Whale (Garnet) - large, slow speed, heavy artillery with a focus on sinking enemy ships.
The Sylph Touched - (Amber) medium, fast speed, uses connection to nature to manipulate weather to their advantage.
The Leeward Lightning (Citrine) - medium, fast speed, quick to ram enemies and repair allies.
The Borealis (Jade) - small, very fast speed, specialize in sabotage and disabling enemy ships.
The Seasnake (Angelite) - medium, medium speed, combat crew of undead that are very difficult to stop.
The Wild Kelpie (Amethyst) - medium, medium speed, magic-based combat for destruction or sabotage.
The Drakes’ Breath (Diamond) - medium, medium speed, skilled swordsmen for close combat when capturing ships.

Characters with their own ships and crews who are in the area of Briste or who can get their ships there may captain them as support vessels.

On the third day, the small fleet will encounter a much larger fleet of pirates! The native crew will be able to share that it appears to actually be through groups of pirates that have united for reasons unknown and provide the following information:
Làgaraid - raiders from the north who are used to harsh winter conditions, they are mostly human and are the most likely to move off their ships and engage directly and may attempt to take over the shardbearer ships; their flags show a white sword and axe on black and are often tattered.
Cearban - traditionally based off the east coast of Dorchadas, only a fraction of their fleet is present, though that’s enough; as versed in the black market as piracy, they have a variety of enchantments, artifacts, and controllable creatures of the sea and sky as part of their arsenal and have flags of a black shark on red.
Aigeal - the largest of the groups, having primarily operated in Domhain due to its central location and easy access to trade routes, they are most varied in ship size and crew race, with more mages among their crews than the other groups; their flag is a gold seaserpent.

Any shardbearers that do not participate will find that they are charged more for all purchases made from native establishments, including purchases made on behalf of a settlement or stronghold, whether they know the seller or not. Locals have to eat too!

A mod-posted log will be put up for this event!
