REDGATE PLOT SUMMARY AND REVIEW!

SUMMARY FOR REDGATE

As some of you might know, the game’s overarching plot has been cranking into gear in recent months! Last month, player characters got to interact with Reynard the Fox, learning more about shards, the nature of the war and the drabwurld, and enjoying the delights of a medieval feast gone horribly, horribly wrong.

This month, a largely different set of characters got to interact with Alyosha of Redgate! This location is now being released to the game at large.

• The Seelie leave for Redgate on Appa, with the intention of reuniting the spirit of a defeated dragon (Sura) with the body it had left in torpor after a battle fought a century ago.

• The Unseelie leave a few days later, riding puca which Morla had arranged to bear them swiftly. Grell had been asked to slay the same dragon, and had gathered a team of other Unseelie to act as assistance.

• The Seelie arrive, and immediately hold a conference with Alyosha which… goes rather poorly. She refuses to let them into the mountain.

• The Unseelie arrive, the same night they had left, and rather than meeting immediately, opt to wait for Waver Velvet, Queen Morla’s diplomatic courier, to arrive before beginning negotiations.

• Both the Seelie and Unseelie parties hang around, enjoying the sights, touring the village, defeating the shadow-monsters of the month’s event, and in some cases hanging out with Alyosha herself. In particular, a conversation with the Brucolac moves her to inform him that she has tracked the progress of the war for some time, and likely has a great deal of information regarding it, the shards, and the monarchs. She is little evidenced in Redgate after the fact.

• Waver Velvet arrives with his court-appointed assistant, Harry Potter.

• The Unseelie Meeting with Alyosha begins. Morla’s offer of alliance offends Alyosha, who nevertheless accepts. This is in part due her new understanding that King Reul seems to be rebuilding the defeated Jabberwock, and suspects that if she does not accept, her region will likely suffer attack by it.

• John Grimm overhears the negotiation with his dramatically enhanced hearing and warns the Seelie group, some of whom depart immediately to enter the mountain.

• Part-way through the negotiations, the fact that some of the Seelie had left to the mountain is reported to Alyosha.

• The remaining Seelie are put in prison. Alyosha gears up with the Unseelie and together they head into the mountain.

• Harry and Waver remain behind, however. They are tasked to rescue the miners and to keep the citizens of the village safe. Many miners were rescued! Many were not. During the course of fulfilling these duties over two days, Harry got caught in a cave in and was gravely injured.

• The Seelie team reached the dragon’s body after a day’s descent into the mountain. Korra manages to awaken it by reuniting the body and spirit, and in return Sura expends much of his power reuniting her with her Avatar State for a few moments and providing her with a new power.

• While in the spirit realm with Sura, the Unseelie team arrives at the dragon’s resting place! It’s a mad scramble: the dragon causing the cavern to begin collapsing, its gaze mesmerizing some of the Unseelie. Seelie and Unseelie battle for their lives and that of the dragon.

• Alyosha duels briefly with Korra, and then manages to remove one of the dragon’s eyes. Korra, in retaliation, throws the ex-shardbearer into dragonfire. Bolin is able to rescue her from certain death, and together with John Grimm, hastens away to give her emergency medical treatment.

• The Unseelie rally to defeat the dragon. The dragon, unable to properly fly, damages much of the local village in its escape. The Brucolac is rendered powerless by morning’s light, later found by Harry and Waver; Alice, unconscious, is kept by Korra. Ganondorf and Grell remain upon the dragon to do as much damage as possible before being flung off at last, while Lancelot makes his own exit from the cave. 

• Following the dragon’s escape, Ganondorf returns to the castle and seeks out the imprisoned Seelie to have them transferred to his own care.

• Alyosha is returned to Redgate by her rescuers Bolin & John.

• The dragon dies at Caer Glaem.

REDGATE REVIEW AND QUESTIONS

Below is a crit/review section for players involved, so that we can get a great feel for what aspects worked well and which did not! Ideally the process of playing in mod plots should be constantly improved and streamlined for the benefit of those participating in them. :)
