He's pretty okay at functioning while freaked out, but the greatest terror gripping his heart might not be so easy for him to work with.
And I think he'll be out on the road with Cassie and co. for at least some of this? Just how on the road he is will probably determine if he'll be more useful for gathering old dead warriors up than he is for actually delivering them. He'll have his boon armor, so he can fairy ring himself anywhere that he's already been, which means there are at least a couple of options open for him to turn up to check on things elsewhere during the fighting, even if it won't be helpful for moving bones.
