January Boon Requests

Hey fairybroskis! You know what time it is? Boon time!

Requests are up, which means the fairies and imps are out and about bothering people from their respective factions to note down the number one item on their wishlist again!




Wherever Shardbearer characters are in the Drabwurld, at some point today they will be approached by fairies or imps, depending on their alignment, bearing a piece of parchment and a quill. They will urge your character to write down a request for an item, power or favour from their monarchs in exchange for fighting or supporting their faction and they will take it away through a fairy-ring when it is written. There are three easy rules your character will be informed MUST NOT be broken:

1) "Do not call for time and space to be bent to your will!"

2) "You may not request another's true love or devotion!"

3) "Ask not for a road home or the loved ones whence you came!"

Essentially, the OOC boundaries relayed through IC means to your character are to avoid game-breaking demands being made. They will be approved, altered or denied here until 24th JANUARY (00:01am LONDON GMT) so that when your character receives their boon on the morning of 25th (you can pick any time for them to be delivered/show up) no matter where they are there is no fuss, no muss!

This month, everybody who participated in war preparations gets a boon! Feel free to link to any threads (completed or ongoing) that will show your character getting involved in the event this month: only actual participation (not referenced participation) will warrant a boon. For those using quest logs to count as both quest material and as boons, you could have gone a good measure over minimum wordcount to receive your boon: ideally having another 200 words or so.

BOON REQUEST: "I hate to admit it, but one of the Sanctuary's Death Ankhs would be really useful. Just so I can move around this place without having to resort to a horse walking for a month."
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: The canon version is described here but his request is intended with the following alterations:
The ankhs in the comic were designed to teleport whoever snaps the chain from wherever their current location is into a pocket dimension that was the home of the assassins guild. What Lusiphur is requesting is something that is triggered the same way, but functions in a similar way to how Maglor's ring does. Picture the location that you've already been to, break the chain, and you are teleported there. The chain would have to be repaired between uses (a simple matter of removing the broken link and reattaching), but the magic is held in the medallion, so it could be any ol' chain (just in case it gets broken in a way that can't be repaired).

POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: i know luke would really like this to be something he can lean upon when it comes to big battles in the future, so if there's any way for him to work toward cancelling half of the negatives about it out (being able to somehow override being worn down so much, needing to sleep, etc. — which are things i'd like to gradually work toward if it's permitted!) (and it actually not being a one-time thing), that'd be awesome. but i'm really keen on dealing with the consequences of this, anyway! if it's not cool, a golden apple from the Garden of Hesperides, or suggestions here.

BOON REQUEST: "My reality marble, Overload."
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: Since Roa's reality marble goes against the power limitations of the game and because Roa's mental state has shifted making it impossible to use even without those limitations, I'd like for his request to be ignored!

Instead, I'd like for Roa to regain the magic circuits from his original body! It'll make his magic a higher quality and he won't have to drink blood nearly as much, because he won't need to take in as much power.

Also, regaining those circuits will hurt like torture for him and I like doing that to my muses.

I'm not sure how Drabwurld werewolves work, but if he could have little to no control over becoming a werewolf at first, that'd be great........

POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: Any modifications as work! I personally would prefer that it's a ring. He had to give away some of his nice ones! He just wants something nice that can cloak his shard and then be extended to do other kinds of concealment over the timeskip. If it's too much, Dorian really loves every kind of sweet and confection in the world.

BOON REQUEST: What he wants is a way to become more powerful, in order to protect the area. He's kinda looking for anything here, so it's another of those "whatever you deem appropriate" sorts of deals again, kinda (see below).
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: OKAY SO, I've been reading up on supplementary materials! Fun times! This is relevant for one and only one reason aside from characterization corrections: one of his abilities is this sort of dream walk state-- it's somewhat random, only works when he's asleep, and all it does is give him the benefit of seeing through the eyes of other people or animals to watch events unfold. The tricky thing is, it works sort of outside of the constraints of time: sometimes it's the (very distant) past, sometimes the future, sometimes current events elsewhere in the world. He can't direct it, and he can only guess at the time frame. He's stuck as a silent observer, looking through the eyes of bats and spiders and people (Trolls, specifically). Still, useful ability to have. He gets lucky once and foresees an invasion a bit before it happens.

The power seems to be something he's been granted by his gods, and he's been operating under the assumption that since he's detached from his world, he's also somewhat detached from his gods, which is why he hasn't been able to do it in-game. (Which is my excuse for him not having used it in all this time.)

All of this was detailed in a book that I hadn't read before I apped, and it wasn't listed on the wiki, which is a little embarrassing for me to admit, but it's true. I hadn't known about it at the time. However, it's kinda convenient to have boons for just these kinds of reasons. SO, if at all possible, can he has dream walk pls? If I haven't been active enough, that's fine, too.

BOON REQUEST: Hermione would like something (or someone/animal/etc!) non-magical to help defend herself. With the war coming and the trouble she's already had with her magic she'd like to have a backup just in case!
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: Potions ingredients or books on Drabworld magic or something of the sorts!

BOON REQUEST: "You know what it is I hunt for. To further it I need either a slab of dreamshit or some way of producing it, in order to increase my own personal solvency; otherwise, some weapon which can keep up with me, in order to increase my usefulness to you, and to the site of my spire."
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: Re: dreamshit--on the eve of battle is kind of an inopportune moment to request slakemoth grubs, which is a shame because that's my ideal. It would involve the Brucolac afterwards booning/requesting/seeking to find some way of controlling animals, once he got the idea that...the little bastards are going to grow up into something scary. (He doesn't realise slakemoths and dreamshit are connected, but if gifted grubs, he'd be Alarmed). The battle might distract him from that, and once we're in the timeskip...idk, it's one of those things I feel would lose their impact. So, I'm unsure? And I include the weapon option as something that could just be well cool, and useful in the upcoming month. Loose interpretations of 'weapon' welcome; terrible tests of loyalty loved.

POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: Essentially he wants his own slice of a kingdom. This is what he envisions, but it need not be so widespread. His land extending as far as the ocean would be ideal, though. If there's a timeskip, he'll be building up some small town into a large port city along the ocean. To go with it, he would like some higher title that encompasses this position of having multiple holdings. (So like an Archduke, Lord Paramount, King, etc.)

Otherwise if that's too much, wildcard it up!

BOON REQUEST: Lancelot will essentially write a note saying that he is well aware he is nothing special, compared to some of the court's other champions and some of the Unseelie champions. He has no magic, no great internal power, etc. So; he would ask for something to help him help them win their war.
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS:

This is vague, obviously, since Lancelot is unsure exactly how to achieve that -- so I have two conceptual ideas! Both are fun, they are different approaches on the same idea.

Idea #1 is basically a Seelie version of fate!Lancelot's noble phantasm Knight of Honor! It allows him to pick up any weapon and be proficient with it, and imbues the weapons to be ~legendary~ of sorts. The effect quits a few seconds after he drops them, so it isn't like he'd be generating endless new weapons for everyone.

This would i) level the ground against more powered characters in a fight for him, good for upcoming battle!
ii) mean any weapon would be good in his hands, reducing rate of weapon-request boons
iii) make my efforts to slowly parallel his spiral against Berserker!Lancelot yet more effective
iv) freak out the fate characters a bit
v) be kinda cool, and give him confidence!

You could Seelie-mode it by adjusting it to give light-element instead of demonic, obviously, which is what Berserker's gives. You could also limit his auto-proficiency with weapons to only pre-modern ones as well, I don't mind him not magically learning guns when he picks one up (although that could be funny)

Idea #2 is give him the other dragon egg. A dragon raised by Lancelot is more likely to end up war-weapon ish, I am pretty sure the monarchs could guess that. Duh, knight. Also the amount of incessant fussing he did over a dog is probably clue he'd take care of it.

This would i) cause endless two men and a baby jokes because of Faolan, who can sing to the dragon for Lancelot because he is a bard and then be really really awkward and embarrassed
ii) be adorable when it hits toddler age because Santiago Cabrera is adorable with children
iii) Be fascinating in comparison to Avatar Team raising a dragon for nature/nurture debates
iv) Faolan has an aversion to Fire after the whole Pyrii thing. Adorable baby fire creature would help him get over it
v) Probably put Lancelot into aggressively protective daddy-mode and (since the dragons are tied directly to the court) give him even more reason to stick directly to it and make him difficult to remove from it


So #1 is direct powerup, #2 is indirect power up via future strength and responsibility to keep him in the court. In a way a bit manipulative because I can't imagine Lance removing a child from its home even if he grew to hate the court somehow.

-I'd love for him to get a squire or apprentice one day, but preferably one that I don't have to NPC myself. (So if you ever want to throw a PC at him for that...)
-Some cool and special material he can work with to make things.
-Robert's Warhammer would pretty cool for him to receive (especially with legitimization looming and an incoming Dany)

Most of these are planning/ideas that he intends to work on more towards the end of the month, so they're all kind of in the early planning stages of "in progress."
BOON REQUEST: "Traveling is really a nuisance, and I'd certainly be able to get more done if I didn't have to deal with horses. They're positively dreadful, and the existing magical varieties seem even worse..."
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: I was thinking another alteration to Volumen Hydragyrm, actually! All-purpose mercury cat would make a pretty great prestige mount, if I do say myself!
