January Boon Requests

Hey fairybroskis! You know what time it is? Boon time!

Requests are up, which means the fairies and imps are out and about bothering people from their respective factions to note down the number one item on their wishlist again!




Wherever Shardbearer characters are in the Drabwurld, at some point today they will be approached by fairies or imps, depending on their alignment, bearing a piece of parchment and a quill. They will urge your character to write down a request for an item, power or favour from their monarchs in exchange for fighting or supporting their faction and they will take it away through a fairy-ring when it is written. There are three easy rules your character will be informed MUST NOT be broken:

1) "Do not call for time and space to be bent to your will!"

2) "You may not request another's true love or devotion!"

3) "Ask not for a road home or the loved ones whence you came!"

Essentially, the OOC boundaries relayed through IC means to your character are to avoid game-breaking demands being made. They will be approved, altered or denied here until 24th JANUARY (00:01am LONDON GMT) so that when your character receives their boon on the morning of 25th (you can pick any time for them to be delivered/show up) no matter where they are there is no fuss, no muss!

This month, everybody who participated in war preparations gets a boon! Feel free to link to any threads (completed or ongoing) that will show your character getting involved in the event this month: only actual participation (not referenced participation) will warrant a boon. For those using quest logs to count as both quest material and as boons, you could have gone a good measure over minimum wordcount to receive your boon: ideally having another 200 words or so.

He'll receive a silver skull which will allow him to raise the bodies of the dead after they have been left out in the elements for three days following their death, meaning that even after battles he has an easy method of renewing the numbers of his troops using the bodies of enemies and allies alike. With an IC cap of 300, this will allow him to have undead soldiers sweep through the surrounding lands, which are primarily populated by wildlings in small villages and settlement who claim no allegiance to anyone, and claim the territory for his own.

A handwaved letter from Morla will notify him that should he claim this area in battle and found a port, she will elevate him to the status of King and confer all the benefits of such a lofty title, and shall provide support for the building and infrastructure of said new territory.

RELEVANT THREAD(S): Link #1 Link #2 Link #3 Basically a lot of training in preparation for the battle. And he also traveled with Lancelot to Mt Verla to try and find a way to slay the Jabberwock and died horribly saving him AND THAT TOTALLY COUNTS TOO RIGHT???
BOON REQUEST: Even though Faolan is technically dead at the time of the boon requests, I spoke to a mod who reassured me that him having left a note would be acceptable for his last boon. So Faolan would have left this little scrap of brainstorming out somewhere pretty obvious, just in case he wasn't back in time.
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: Realizing that this is just Faolan brainstorming and not actually a letter requesting anything specific and therefore it's SUPER vague, some suggestions for how this could be interpreted might be: a means to be alerted when Lancelot is in danger (and possibly also be transported to his side??? maybe the ring that Solais gave him for his quest reward could be souped up to be able to do this?), better means to protect him in general (an ability that might aid him in this maybe? MAYBE A PLAY ON THE HOUND TITLE SOMEHOW???), maybe a network of guards at his disposal to report to him on Lancelot's security/whereabouts (this could possibly already have been accomplished with the ring though, I'm not sure?)

BOON REQUEST: Access to the Restricted section in the Caer Glaem library, and a safe space, indestructible via magic that he might use for a space for possible lessons in the future
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: BASICALLY Remus is a werewolf wizard, and he will always be a scholar and a professor at heart, and while he has a couple of his former students in this world they're all grown up and seem to be doing pretty well on their own. He misses his gig at Hogwarts more than he can say - every time Harry and Hermione talk about him being their favorite professor it makes him miss it that much more. And they're adults, they don't need him looking after them. He needs something else to do with his time. A project to keep him preoccupied and not so lonely and sad. SO WHAT IF HE WERE TO START TEACHING AGAIN??? Knowledge is power, after all, and there are always new waves of people coming in - plus some people just like learning/not having to do the research on their own. The access and the space are a step in that direction, although he would definitely elaborate to make clear what his intentions are for any possible alterations/additions onto that!

Lancelot will be given the second of the two remaining Seelie dragon eggs, red-and-gold, and instructed that it is very near hatching! It must be kept warm at all times for the comfort of the delicate dragon-babbin within. Should Lancelot handle it often, the power of his shard may influence the eventual appearance of the dragon, reflecting his understanding of what a dragon should look like. Spiky? Finned? A wyvern?

Well-cared for, it should hatch on Feb. 14th.

Actually, they're on the bestiary! They lay clutches of eggs, and their beginning form is as insects. It's only when frightened or aggressing that they transform into winged horses... and are unable to transform back. They are native to various parts of Dorchadas and may be caught in the wild.

POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: I am always up for Pod having to work for things, so being guided to a way to learn to speak with animals is perfectly acceptable instead! As is being given a way (or a way to learn) how to speak to only one kind of animal.

If a quicker way to travel is the boon given, a mount is cool (so long as it won't freak out around or try to attack a wolverine), or some magical method would work equally well.

POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: maybe include some more dangerous/potent/magic/XTREME ingredients for potions and medicines, or an upgrade to his fire healing when he gets his bending back, or a really nice bow and quiver, since he's kind of in disgrace with korra but you still need to arm your soldiers.
