shyly slides in here again
Hello again, friends! Blanche once more but this time with a bit of a plotty thing proposition that will tie in with the upcoming event.
ICly Legolas is being sent to patrol and investigate the borders surrounding Caer Glaem as per his father's request. First heading towards south-west into the Great Greenwood to reach the river in the forest and such and my plan is for it to take a little over a week but no longer than two weeks of travel. Would there be any volunteers to join him? Either accidentally ran into as he was getting ready to set out or I could swing it that he would make an announcement using the lockets!
It's a bit sudden development for me as well, that is deciding to ask for volunteers and travel company, so ICly they would have left either yesterday (Sunday) or today (Monday). Apologies for the short notice!
Now how this would all tie into the event plot: obviously leaving before the IC announcement about the worms happen at Caer Glaem, but given that 1-) they'd be going for the river, obviously they would get to run into some and possibly some large ones around it? 2-) There would still be contact with Caer Glaem by the lockets, so I suppose they could find out this and that if someone thought to contact them and let them know about the threat and such. :')
I think I'd be looking for three to four people for this, if there's interest! But also please note that Legolas wouldn't agree to take just about anyone: as in, if your character isn't used to swift and hard travel and managing themselves in the wild then he might be unwilling to take them with for their own sake, considering the unknowns they'd be getting themselves into. I would normally leave it open to running into Unseelie folks too, but it's too early in the game for that still, as travel from one stronghold to the other is supposed to take approx. two months. :<
Iiii think that's all for now! So lemme know if anyone would be interested and how and we'll see how to make it work /o/
edit:

I think the best course of action here would be for me to make a post, since it'll be easier to recruit like this and to have something to off on as far as CR goes. Which I should get to tonight when I get home from work!

kevin gets trolled by fairies, small children, ladies... okay everybody. but he was trained as a knight since he was a wee lad, and so survival skills and slicing things to tiny pieces are second nature.

i imagine 'sassy elves" are going to get added to the ever-growing list of Things Kevin Gets Trolled By. should be a great trip!

Please, let Legolas braid your hair, bro... put flowers in it and all :>update
Second of all, an update!
The party would have set out on Monday, 2014-04-07.
The next day they'd have already reached the river! But as it's not exactly a tiny river then they wouldn't be able to cross immediately. Which would result in another day of travel through the forest to find a bridge (there would be some) or a place with slow current and that wouldn't be too deep or the bank too steep.
On Wednesday, 2014-04-09, Thranduil would come in contact with the party (namely, ofc, his son) to inform them of the matters and order them to return. Legolas wouldn't really put it up for a debate, though he would pass on the info and listen to what they have to say. If the preference would be to return: great, if they'd prefer to stay out: not so great, but he'd stay with them out of a sense of responsibility even if it means defying his father's orders.
From then on the plan could be such:
1-) ambush on worms on the way to Glaschu from the forest side of things,
2-) finally returning to join the fighting in Glaschu as a separate unit / response team of sorts, for the time being unrelated to the activities of Kaldur and co. until well, things calm down.
If returning to Glaschu they should return around the night of 2014-04-10.
The gates to Caer Glaem are shut by Thranduil's magic, so to enter the stronghold they'd have to come in contact with him again. For instance, if anyone were to get hurt.
Anyway, if such course of events is all right with you guys and a delay with playing it is not an issue: I should put up a log on the weekend for this for a-) in-team shenanigans during travel, b-) fighting. Alternatively: handwave and feel free to discuss on this post the happenings. The team, as per responses to the post, would consist of:
Hephaestion
Garth
Bucky
Danielle
Kevin
Hawke
As a note for Leggo here, elves ride bareback, though the other horses would be saddled. He also would keep watch every night, because he doesn't really need to sleep (though he can take rest if he feels like it), he'd talk to horses in elvish and be weird about trees (tell them how loving and motherly they are)... basically many apologises for your not-very-leaderly leader, folks. And the not-very-leaderly player that's struggling to keep afloat. whoops

Kevin will absolutely want to head back to the castle ASAP, as he is heavily pinged by the idea of bad things happening at home while he is away.
Kevin is also talking independently to Kaldur, perhaps we can say that there's a brief delay between when Thranduil calls Legolas and Legolas informs his team of what's going on. I hope that's okay!

Re: update
Agreeing with the above that I'd rather log it out! And Danielle would be for heading back if he mentioned the castle were in trouble.
