The Battle of the Gem GENRE: ACTION/ADVENTURE | DURATION: 01-?? OCTOBER

SUMMARY The inferno of the war billows and grows as all forces fight to claim the Gem of Power. Knowing their own futures are at stake, now the battle is joined by greater beings. The Gods are here.

On the first day of the battle, characters will experience half-lit twilight. All the celestial forces will come down as manifest figures and will battle against each other. Day and night are gone and the world is aflame. The reason for this is obvious to all: the shards stolen by the Red Hand will reappear to reform the Uaine Cridhe as a great green mountain rising from the center of the Cathraon.

The monarchs will also reappear as unstoppable forces of cosmic power clashing through the sky. Rather than the monarchs releasing an edict, the shards of characters will themselves indicate the future course through a searing, insistent command: Seek the Heart. Choose our Fate.

The mountain will be covered in warring factions, and its power has attracted the hosts of remaining gods into the fray. Characters will have to battle their way into one of the many caves and paths into the gem, where battling forces will continue. Everyone will be seeking the Heart of the Gem.

THE SECOND BATTLE FOR THE UAINE CRIDHE: Those with the strength to battle and the will to change all fate know that the Uaine Cridhe can change the nature of all things, and that utilizing its power can change the shape, form, and fabric of the universe. Mortal men, gods, and stranger things all battle at its feet, fighting each other all the way up its steep, strange planes. As the avatars of gods are slain, the gods themselves fall in battle, spreading great stains of blood granite along the patchy earth and stone which the mountain tore up as it ascended to its heights, so that the powers of characters are often unreliable. Nothing is held back, and these are the moments of the greatest sacrifices.

INSIDE THE UAINE CRIDHE: Once a character has found their way within the gem, they will experience extended reality warping, not unlike chaotic dream-sharing, walking through their own memories (or those of others nearby). The nearer the heart of the gem one progresses the more literally painful the experience is for characters still retaining their shards, as the force of the mountain begins to pull the shard from them (much like one small magnet gravitating to a far larger one). Characters will need to travel into the heart of the gem and use their shard to resonate with the shard to will their choice. (Shardless/Natives: If a shardless/native can get a shard, they can also have an influence. Please contact the mods if your character is having a hard time getting access to a Shard!) Any character who does this will experience a feeling of absolute consciousness of all existence that will overwhelm them. We will put up an OOC post with the IC post to ensure everyone can contribute!

MONTHLY OVERVIEW

01st OCTOBER • 01) IC Mod Post. The shards stolen from the courts seek each other and reform the Uaine Cridhe as a great green mountain with twisting, labyrinthian passageways. Shards attached to the dwarven mechas also return to the gem. Sensing the great power, all the Gods join in the battle. The stars and moon fall to the earth to take form in the fight, leaving the world in a permanent half-lit twilight. 02) With the loss of their shard eyes, the dwarf war machines are now capable of being felled!
14th OCTOBER • IC Mod Post. Characters will finally be able to break into the tunnels and will need to travel to the Heart of the Gem. A post will go up asking for links to your character reaching the heart of the gem and what they willed for it.
31th OCTOBER (0:01 GMT) • Post willing the fate of the world closes. • Characters get a fun surprise from reaching the centre of the gem! An IC post will go up revealing what happens to them there.

The next Calendar of Events post will go up to cover all of November! All characters in the game will be affected by the events of the battle on the gem. Details about the result of the plot and what else happens at the heart of the gem will be revealed then. New game information and plotting for what happens next will come out over the next month!

Dorian will be getting into the fight hardcore now. He is gonna be LISTENING TO THE CRAZY VOICE IN HIS CHEST and GETTING TO THE CENTRE OF THAT GEM to wish for that greatest of wishes, a world where everyone worships him and has fabulous sex with him all the time. Or, like... something where the cycle can continue in a way that doesn't ruin entire worlds in their primes, maybe. Whatever. He'll decide when he gets there.

So. 1st-14th he will definitely be battling to get inside. He will cut down ANYONE AND ANYTHING THAT GETS IN HIS WAY. HE HAS A WISH TO MAKE AND HE IS GONNA MAKE IT. He will call in the full forces of all of his animal buds, so expect giant wolves, varren, assorted dangerous horses, and others to participate in this rockin' attack.

15th onward DREAMSHARING MINDTRIP SHENANIGANS. Please. Oh my god. This is my favourite thing. Dorian will be bringing 100+ years of perfect memories blending disturbingly together to the table, with everything from rocking orgies to cannibalism to orgy cannibalism AND I WANT ALL YOUR CHARACTER'S WACKY MEMORIES. I am also 100% totally down for glorious fighting in the memories, please and thank you.

ALSO: he may have an extra shard for a Shardless/native to use to wish. I need to double-check if that will be true.

HERMIONE GRANGER, LAURALAE, ERIK LEHNSHERR

Now that HERMIONE has taken part in the Red Hand, she will stop at nothing to get to the centre of the Gem to the Heart. She wants to go, to make her voice known and do whatever she can. If anyone tries to stop her they will be stopped from doing it with magic or bubbles and she'll fight her way to the heart - possibly with Diarmuid at her side and anyone else that wants to go with her. She'll be a lioness, she'll have her dog, she'll have her Saber Cat, she'll be prepared. This is what she's been fighting for and she's going to go for it.

Once there, I am super in for any kind of dream sharing! Memories, hers or yours, anything! Just let me know and we can figure it out.

LAURALAE might be coming into contact with a shard for herself but her main focus will be on the Shuck and making sure that he is safe in the midst of the Godswar. She's known it's coming for a long time (the Aellyn calendars predicted it, so to speak) so she knows it's been inevitable for a while; but her connection with the Shuck is brand new. If anyone from her CR wants her to use her (possible) shard to help them with one particular sway, this is the best time to ask! She's going to be a bit weak from her part in the Ritual, but she's determined. She'll also possibly do dream share and memory sharing, of course, and her life hasn't been the best - cw: cannibalism, death, murder, poison, curses, etc.

(If anyone goes for the Shuck, even for a second, she will kill them. No questions asked, no hesitation.)

ERIK will be fighting the giant metal monsters now that they're weaker... After that, I don't have any real plans. I think his marriage might be postponed a little in the wake of this, but otherwise - he's fair game. If anyone wants him, feel free to ask!

Inquisitor Lavellan + Ciri

Lavellan is going to launch herself into the battle head-first now. While her goal is to reach the gem, much like anyone else, she won't be going out of her way to kill people to get to it. She will, however, be on protection/defensive/healing for anyone who needs it, and she is going to give it all she's got to get to the center of it. Right now, her wish is to restore the worlds that have fallen and to preserve the worlds that exist, continuing them in a cycle that will not result in their destruction and violence. (She will, also, be pining for a cycle that is not repeated; her people have died and become slaves by their own hands, and she refuses to let that happen again and again and again.)

THAT BEING SAID. 1st - 10th will be primarily fighting/healing with 11th - 14th being a true and honest push to get in there. 15th and onward will be all about dreamsharing/memorysharing and BOY WILL IT BE AWFUL. Lavellan has the ~mental fortitude~ (wtf solas) to slip into other people's dreams (accidentally) within the confines of her own world so while this won't be super new, it'll still be awful and wonderful LET'S DO THIS THING.


Ciri will be doing much of the same thing with the exception of wishing for her world's safety from the White Frost and for the worlds to be fixed that have fallen to ruin because of the Wild Hunt. She, too, will be fighting but won't hold back; she'll cut down whomever she has to in order to get to the gem. DREAM/MEMORYSHARING STUFF IS STILL A GO and I'd be really interested in tossing her at people and getting her involved in looking into people's stuff.

As Ciri can teleport, she can help people get close to the gem eventually, probably around the 9th/10th once she's made it there herself. She cannot help them get inside the gem, but she can help them get close. If anyone needs assistance, let me know for her.

OKAY so leo's gonna be tripping over seeing so many possibilities during the Red Hand's activation ritual BUT AFTER THAT - targeting the machines! his first goal will be to free kaio from their grasp. he probably won't stay long enough to fight all the machines, but if the firepup is free, that's acceptable.

AFTER THAT (i'm gonna say 7-14?) he's going to haul over to the tunnels and fight his way to the gem. once there, i'm all for dreamsharing stuff! it'll mostly be memories from this kid, and those possible futures the shards showed them!

As I'm on hiatus until about the end of the first week of October, Katsa is going to be spending the 1st-7th on the fringes of the battle and lending her efforts to making sure as many natives are safe and protected as possible! She's particularly attached to a little girl in Azure, but she'll be popping around all over. It's what she's been up to for a lot of September as well, so if anyone wants to backdate anything along those lines, I'l be happy to provide.

From the 7th-14th I'm back and she'll have her second wind and join the battle to get to the gem! Because screw destinies that you don't choose yourself, man. Katsa will be trundling along with her Grace, her shard, her cleg, and even her warturtle so hell yeah

Finally, from the 15th and on it's time to travel inside the gem! I'm very much open to her experiencing reality warping and memory sharing—she's not going to handle it well but will keep on trucking. She will also probably be sending out some memories of violence and murder and abuse and maybe one or two good ones so that's what she has to offer, but let's meet up and share and fight and reunite??

At the end she's asking not to let a bunch of worlds die buuut maybe with one or two addendum. We'll see when we get there.

Gilgamesh, although Shardless, recently claimed Aslan's shard and so will be using it throughout the course of the battle.

Gilgamesh will be fighting hard to make it to the center of the gem as he really, really does not want to die again! His wishes will involve the formation of a rejuvenated world without the Void's presence that brings about new life, per Aslan's final request. His memories will mostly center around Uruk, as well as his pal Enkidu, so if you ever wanted to travel back to ancient Mesopotamia, now's the time!

Admittedly, I'm looking to focus less here on the battles (though I'm still cool with threading some out) and more on the memory-sharing aspect. I'm open to a bunch of things in that regard and I'd love to "blend" memories together with some discussion! Adventuring together would also be great.

KENNY

For the most part, Kenny doesn't give a shit about the conflict or seelie/unseelie lines. But he'll be skulking about Cathraon for the duration of this, and will not hesitate to defend himself if attacked.

Through the 1st - 14th he'll basically be doing just that. Anyone who has his friendship can count on him to back them in a fight if they need it or want it! Anyone that wants to fight with him can go right ahead. Or if you don't want to fight and just want to yell insults, that's okay too. But he will, however, at the nagging insistence of his gem finally make his way into the stupid green mountain that everyone is fighting over. Maybe this is a chance to finally go home and get back to his kids. He's not letting that opportunity pass by.

15th - onward will be a good time if you enjoy zombie apocalypses and senseless deaths and emotional trauma because that is all Kenny has to offer. Sure, there's some good memories there before all that happened, but who cares. Well. Some characters might since he hasn't exactly been up to discussing his past ANYWAY if you wanna fuck around with memories and shit I am so down with that.

ZACK FAIR | SEELIE

Aslan is currently dead so he is not participating in this plot.

Zack Fair will be fighting like hell to get to the center of that Gem. He will be accompanied by Fenrir (who is twice the size of a normal wolf). Expect a lot of magic and Limit Breaks, because he is going to be determined as hell to wish for life, rebirth, and a restoration of the worlds.

As for MIND FUCKERY, if you want to have your character take a stroll through Nibelheim while its on fire, or deal with a psychotic Sephiroth in a Mako reactor, LOOK NO FURTHER 8] Zack will be experiencing flashbacks to those moments as well as his iconic last stand when he was shot to death by ShinRa's army. I'm open to sharing other scenes as well, but those will be the main highlights!

PLOT WITH MEEEEEE!!!!

AZULA

Okay. Throwing myself back into this. So!

Azula is definitely all about force of will, so she will be set on finding the 'heart' of this whole thing and... Yeah. I don't have any specific plans, but I want to definitely throw into this!

KIREI KOTOMINE

Kirei will probably be on the battlefield well until the 14th, fighting his way to the mountain!

For the first half of the month, I'm interested in staging fights with other PCs in the second battle log that just went up. This can include fights we've already talked about and just haven't decided when they're happening and ones that may result from Kirei's actions in the war up until this point... looking at you, waver and diarmuid Anything is cool!

From the 14th on, Kirei will be pretty seriously seeking the Heart of the Gem, and doing anything he possibly can to make it there. He may have three shards with him (including his own), so it'll probably be a painful journey! It's a good thing he's used to pain. For this latter half of events inside the Uaine Cridhe, I can offer—

Memory or chaotic dream-sharing, of some really messed up stuff. I will have to get into details in the plotting itself because of possible tw-worthy content, but if anyone wants to experience his memories of his wife and young daughter, his wife's traumatic death, his murder of Rin's father, the inside of the corrupted Holy Grail (it's pure nightmare fuel), or a terrible burning inferno, let me know! This can happen. COME SEE WHY KIREI IS SO BROKEN I'm also up for him experiencing other characters' memories.

I haven't decided the specifics of what he'd wish for, but both existence and the Void will be highly important to his choice. Because of this, I would not like him to lose his shard/die, or be incapacitated to the point where he won't be able to continue, but as always, other injuries and such are fine!

BALEM ABRASAX

Balem will mostly be trying to sneak inside by hiding behind a cloud of bees. Subtle. He is willing to attack, but because he's not very strong he will also cooperate with others in getting there.

From the 14th onward: MEMORY SHARING OH BOY. He's got 50,000 years of memories and they include things like SPACE, space dragons, strange planets, planet harvesting, mommy issues, and so on. I also kind of want someone to see him killing his mother, but that one's pretty much definitely going to result in him having a bit of a breakdown (on the plus side it's blackmail for life).

Simon Monroe | Unseelie

Right, so, Simon will of course be trying to get to the Centre of the Gem when the time comes to do that. Prior to that I'm not entirely sure what he will be up to, though at the start of the month he's going to continue helping to get wounded Unseelie shardbearers off the battlefield before their shards can be taken, so if anyone wants in on that, hit me up, either to be wounded or to help fight off any Seelie, NPCs or otherwise. I'm going to post a top level to the September battle log now that Red Hand things are over, too, so things can still happen there as well.

He's also going to be dealing with the fact that he was at the main ritual site when the Red Hand did their thing. Memory sharing is gonna be fun, too, and I'll be getting in on that. I'm pretty much open to everything, so hit me up ^_^

MERIDA - SHARDLESS / TERRA - SEELIE

4th means that MERIDA will be coming back from the dead and be shardless, but that won't be stopping her from seeing the Red Hand plan through, though she won't be joining in any battles as she's just recently been brought back. She'll be accompanying Diarmuid, Hermione and her family into the center of the gem, just try and fucking stop her. She'll have Angus and her pups. 15th onwards oh boy. Who wants to see her turn her mum into a bear and her brothers being adorable little shits?


TERRA will likely be taking his kids and hightailing it through the gem. After memory sharing and what the gem shows at the ritual site, he'll know about his future as Ansem/Xemnas :'D I HAVE NO IDEA OTHER THAN THAT SO HIT ME

Lia de Beaumont | Seelie

Lia still has very little idea what is going on but is invested in the idea that things die so they are reborn. See also the example of herself. Party lines are drawn but she's going to lightly toe them.

Lia has a sword, and her magic that can either heal people or make parts of them explode. Or break. I'd love for her to actually get into more of a scrap than normal. Reality warping, maybe you want to see zombies? Pr-Revolutionary France and Robespierre when he was young and attractive? But otherwise I'd love for her to go hopping into other people's minds and ideas to see the future and that other people have it way worse than she did.

So bring things! Fights, healings, or letting Lia explore all the mindtrips. It's the only vacation they get right?

THRALL

Thrall is going to be helping Red Hand members get to the Heart, which means his priority is protecting shardbearers from each other, destroying mechas, etc. He can protect people with earth/his huge bulk and heal, so his talents there might be in some demand. I doubt he will turn anyone away. He's of the opinion that the Drabwurld is a lost cause with nearly everything dead, so he'll be looking for that elusive third option when he makes his way into the Heart later on.

Basically he won't be starting fights with other PCs, but you are totally free to shoot at him purely because he's Unseelie.

I'm also down for memory sharing. Thrall's memories contain scantily-clad monster ladies, epic LOTR-scale battles, slavery, and torture. If this sounds like your jam let me know. I can always cherry-pick memories to avoid sensitive things too.

Hiro | Unseelie

Well this is fun.

For the first part of the the month, Hiro's going to be…mostly really pissed off about the way things are going and screw you guys who try to stop him from making a wish. He's also just a ball of rage so he'll be looking to go out and take down the mechs and fight his way into the heart, more or less. Since he was pulled from the battle at the end of September, he and Clarke have the midach stations taken care of so he'll be more inclined to combat and on-field healing! He wants to change things and he wants to make sure his wish is heard and at this point there's pretty much nothing stopping him from going for it.

Second part once he's inside Uaine Cridhe, totally here for memory-sharing everything! His or your characters, everything's totally fine. I wish I had something more intelligent to say but I don't but I want to use this chance to thread all sorts of crazy stuff, so let's do it!

RACHEL DARE & OCTAVIA BLAKE

RACHEL DARE ( seelie ) is not a fighter, but she's an Oracle, so she's got some experience with this whole crazy dream-sharing/visions shit. I imagine she's going to try and get close to/stick around close to the gem because she'll be trying to help people, uh, not go crazy. I'm also thinking her powers will sort of act more as a soundboard than anything else when she's really focusing, so it might just amplify people's memories? instead of just sharing them. ehh. I'm still trying to figure i out! I'm up for anything, pretty much. but otherwise if you want to see some crazy Greek history in the form of quest visions that the Spirit of Delphi locked her in head, then I'm up for that too! Basically, if you want really weird/intense dreams, or if your character might need help in NOT losing their minds during all this mind-whammy business, then Rachel is your girl!! so if I'm reading this right, her stuff won't come into play until around the 14th, just cause it's all gem-related.

OCTAVIA BLAKE ( unseelie ) is going to be fighting. a lot. lots of fighting. so much fighting. following the voice in her chestgut and doing whatever she has to to get to the gem. basically if your character needs a fighter to help them get to the gem, or if you're in the mood for general mind-bendy funtimes along the way, hit me up! she'll be good for plotty things all month, basically.

LUMINA (Unseelie) + a whole mess of chocobos. And monsters.

WELL THEN. So Lumina has basically sat out the last two months of things (due to my hiatus whoops) but the disappearance of her 'sister' in the last few days and the appearance of the giant shard are finally going to get her off her butt. She likes this world, for all the hell it puts them through, and if this is the end she's going to throw everything she's got at it. (Thanks to Grell the motivational speaker...)

SO for first half of the month (1st through 14th), this means that when she shows up to the war like a cool kid, she's bringing a decently sized army of armored, well trained, giant magical birds. And a smaller army of magical monsters! Because you can't take it with you, right?

(OH and she has an owlbear locked in a cage that she got from Saber. It's completely not tame or trained and basically horribly dangerous but I could have her just release it at somebody if anyone wants to fight an owlbear. That could be fun!)

For the fighting itself, she's still Lumina so in spite of the serious nature of everything, she'll mostly be being more of a pest than actually attacking people (she will leave that to her chocobos and monsters and friends?) So if anyone wants to encounter an invisible girl who shatters their weapons or drops them in a tree or in front of a dragon or something, that can be arranged. And be hilarious.

For the 15th onward, she'll be making for the heart chamber, and her memories are going to be kind of a mess because this isn't the first end of the world for her. It's going to be a mix of the Thirteen Day (the last day) on Nova Crystallis and her memories here in the Drabworld. I am thinking probably narrated by that little inner voice she tries to hide from everyone all the time. Who wants some honest truths with a scared little girl?

ALSO she still has her shard, and is actually kind of a huge stranger to pain? So as things get worse and worse, there's a good chance she may collapse when she's getting near the chamber, and will need someone else to help her get there. But she is going to get there, because she refuses to stand by while she loses another world, damn it.

LANCELOT (SEELIE)

He will be resurrecting somewhere in the start of October and spend a lot of time repeatedly chasing Lauralae up and down the mountain trying to get her to give him his shard back.

No, he doesn't know where he went wrong with his life either.

WAVER VELVET | SUA

First of all PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH THE END OF GAME RECAP!

Sua will be in Leathann for the month, and thus on the back burner, unless someone needs her.

Waver will be very involved in the last leg of things, as much as he can.

THE OWNER OF THE STARBUCKS IS GOING TO BE 15 MINUTES LATE WITH STARBUCKS. Waver'll be recovering from the shock of the ritual, as well as dealing with the injuries Rin suffered thanks to Kirei being the Actual Worst. Once Rin's seen to, he'll be showing up to the game with some flying bulls and a few friends!

Once at the gem, Waver will be trying to find a way into it, and will attack if provoked.

Waver is going to be going into the heart of the Gem as much as possible. If anyone wants to group up for memory sharing and exploring, this would be a lovely time to do so (especially the coffee house group!)

Willing to fight if and when approached.

As far as fighting goes, Waver will be conveyed by Rider's flying bull chariot and will make use of that whenever he can. He also has gained water magic profiency during his time in the Drabwurld, and the there's VH. VH/a> can do a fair amount of damage, so if you do want a fight, let's talk! I fully intend to scale VH back since she can be stupidly overpowered.

I'd love to have fun with the memory sharing, be it with positive or negative CR, and strip away the stupid amount of secrets that Waver's built up both at home and during his time in the Drabwurld.

ARIADNE & JOHN GRIMM

ARIADNE will be totally in the battle to get inside! FIGHT HER BITCHES. She'll direct her forces to help clear a path for other Unseelie to get in/continue engaging the Seelie, and she's likely to cheat via shadow travel.

JOHN will also be heading on in! Again with the cheating. He'll be on hand for mercy killing and for healing his bros.

Both are available for some reality warping! Ariadne may seem oddly okay with it while John will be freaking out because his life is awful and everyone he knows dies all the time.

Also I totally failed at getting Ariadne around in the first part of the battle (John was busy Red Hand-ing): hit me up if you would still like to do something there!

LUCIFER mainly

SURPRISE SHARDBEARERS BET YOU THOUGHT YOU'D SEEN THE LAST OF ME

This is all culminating in a way smt tends to but generally speaking demons are usually forbidden from participating and deciding how things go. Since that's not the case here Lucifer will be fighting absolutely tooth and nail to get to the center. He's going to try and wish for things to go absolutely fucking crazy where everyone fights to survive on a daily basis and the environment is harsh and unforgiving but ultimately ~fair~ for everyone, where the weak are trampled underfoot and the strong dominate everything. If he's ever ic'ly preached his desire for true equality to you, well..........this is what he meant.

MEMORY SHARING IS SOMETHING I'D LOVE TO GET IN ON TOO as a concept he is far, far older than 'Lucifer' as he is now so you pretty much have from the very beginning of creation far, far before any religion existed and over five generations of separate humanities till now worth of "what the fuck" to stumble through.

Gawain is far too indecisive a person to have any real footing here but he'll mainly focus on protecting people if they need it. You might even be able to convince him to accompany you if your sales pitch is good enough. (Although it also depends on what Flora's up to........as always.)

1st-14th:

everyday we're aiding our friends and rallying the Unseelie troops aka if Unseelie need a push to save themselves, get over themselves, or not flee screaming into the night, Grell can give out assistance with that through mental suggestion. She'll be conserving her energy hardcore, but if push comes to shove she still has no problem outright killing, and through the first week will be falling back to be support rather than leading an aggressive assault as she recovers from last month's engagement. Second week she'll be much more intent on navigating around once the machines are destroyed, and still lending a hand but unable to be dissuaded from pulling risky stunts to get there. good times.

15th and forward:

reality warping I'm so excited for it. I'm here for both walking through other people's memories and for other people to see how complicated Grell's are. A blanket warning that her memories involve a lot of various types of death, violence, possibly other unsavoury things that she's seen in her time as a reaper - though memories of the Drabwurld are possible as well. Basically, just come at me so we can get things done.

I haven't ironed out the specifics of her wish, though I know it'll involve the worlds being allowed to run on a different path than the cycle, the First World restored, and please let emotions continue to exist in the future. Or something equally overdramatic on the end.

WOW SO RIKU will absolutely be making his way to the gem's heart (I mean it is literally the gem's Heart how can he not) and I am up for any and all shenanigans that people would like to see!! :> He'll be traveling with the keyfam for a lot of it, but hey, you know, it's always possible to get separated, right? I am up for anything and everything, especially dream-sharing or fighting!

Prior to plunging into the Gem's Heart (BECAUSE THAT DOESN'T SOUND FAMILIAR AT ALL) he will be mainly fighting against the dwarven mechs!
