AUGUST CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Hello, fairybros!

A couple of quick notes before we forge forward into the August event! As of next app cycle (September), we will be making some changes to the current app and also begin allowing NATIVE OC APPLICATIONS. These applications will have a different format than traditional applications, and will be much more vigorous in their review process, as well as have a completely separate and much shorter submission period. Native OC applications will be submitted before traditional apps, not alongside, and will only be open to individuals with a character currently in-game. We will notify the community as we release info on this in the upcoming month!

And as some of you may have noticed, we've been advancing the game's overarching plot not just through the use of the monarchs, but other in-game NPCs, PM-based special events, and other small easter eggs. We encourage individuals who have taken part in these events to PM the mod account criticisms, thoughts, and reviews of this experience or to paste them in the review area below, as there will be more of them in the upcoming months! 

Also related to NPCs, here is a link to a gamewide player character NPC roster! If your character has any followers or NPCs which other player characters may *frequently* interact with, please feel free to add their details! Fairies, soldiers, footmen, servants, and more are all game! If you desire, you can even advertise your NPC as an appable native OC. 


 

The Falling of the Lawkamercyme GENRE: MYSTERY/MAGICAL | DURATION: 10-18 AUGUST

SUMMARY The lack of the stars kept by shardholders has left the night sky more dark than usual; and it's from the sky that these small wrathful creatures fall. Most of them are only as tall as knee-height, with wide mouths full of dozens of needle-sharp teeth, and look like living shadows. They have a fondness for eating birds, any food they can get their hands on, and shoes. They'll also leave clothes and bedding in tatters. If many find each other, they will bind together to grow proportionally larger... and more dangerous. When in this form, they'll seek out the women of the court to hunt.

The fairies and imps can sometimes be caught heard shrieking "Lawkamercyme!" at them before fainting, and may be eaten if not quickly saved! If characters speak this name around them, the dark shadows will shrink a little; if several characters do it at once, the combined command will cause the shadows to vanish and the trouble to lessen. Otherwise, they seem very afraid of dogs, who will hunt them mercilessly and seem to be the only thing which can kill them beyond speaking the strange word ...

01st AUGUST • APPS CLOSE. What it says on the tin! Get your apps in before this date! Also, MONARCH MEETING AHOY! 
03rd AUGUST • REDGATE MASTER LOG OPENS. For characters who have developed business in Redgate, the master log will be posted on August 03, and will be open throughout the month.
10th AUGUST • EVENT START. The strange shadow creatures begin infesting the lands, causing havoc, and where they can, meeting and merging with others of their kind to form vicious beasts! Handwaved proclamations are posted in the courts urging player characters to do away with these threats by whatever means necessary.
18th AUGUST • OOC submissions for Boons OPEN and are approved/altered/denied until the 22nd (00:01am LONDON GMT).
23rd AUGUST • Approved or altered, boons are ICLY received today when characters wake up.
26th AUGUST (00:01am LONDON GMT) • ACTIVITY CHECK.
31st AUGUST (00:01am LONDON GMT) • ACTIVITY CHECK ENDS.

QUICK NOTES!
• All of the living shadows will start off approximately knee-high, and the smaller they are, the easier they are to kill.
• Each court keeps its own hounds for hunting, and characters will find the masters of the hunt all too eager to let player characters use them for the sake of hunting these mean bastards down!
• Player characters or hounds may be injured by the shadows.
• Even hounds not from the drabwurld will instinctively act to kill these shadows.

Will non-domestic canines also feel compelled to attack the creatures, and if so, would that extend to sentient ones?

As there is no audience with the monarchs this month, if Clarisse were to request a boon with the intention to present it to the monarchs as a gift, would she be able to schedule a private audience with the monarchs in order to do so?

About NATIVE OC APPS because that is so exciting to me because I have the perfect character for this!

Will they be native as in the sense of 'born in drabwurld' or native as in 'were dragged from the world forever ago so are essentially native' (I recall vaguely Reynard was dragged here as a shardholder but is now essentially a native npc?)

Also if we have an idea of how to integrate them / relate them to NPCs, can we pitch it once they pass the test!

Because, I mean, take the women, take the children, take the castles, take the jewellery, but I'm not sure how Cesare would feel about supernatural attempts against his horse.

( Actually mostly asking because horses can be quite bite-prone, and wasn't sure whether that played into the shadows' willingness to approach them or not. )

I do have a question on the native OC apps! I hope it makes sense.

In the past, I've played an OC that is based on Celtic (mainly Welsh) lore. And judging by your previous answers to my fellow players, this would be a native born PC in this world. My only problem is that this being drawn from similar lore, is that I do have her drawn from the traditional Arthurian legends. So I guess my only concern is would that be stepping on too much toes? Would OCs have to be limited exclusively to the Celtic theme in this game? I AM SORRY I just hope this sounds clear, because this would be a perfect game, but in the meantime, I'd be too freaked out about stepping on toes. Aaagh.

As the critters are shadows, would it be more dangerous for Ariadne to use her little shadow travel ability? Could she accidentally end up in one that would be gross and awesome

If my character currently isn't at the castle can she still request a hound from the hound masters, provided she gets the information that they can kill the beasties somehow?

Would Nico's sword be able to do damage to the shadow creatures? It absorbs the essence of monsters and the shadows from a Gigantes, but on the other hand, it won't hurt my feelings none if he can't since. He has a tame hellhound. Fetch the shadows will be Clifford's new favorite game.

Another question, just out of curiosity. Once someone figures out the whole dog thing, would turning into a dog or creating temporary dogs out of magic have any effect on them?

So I already know that Piper's charmspeak isn't going to work on these shadows, but I'm curious about her saying the word "Lawkamercyme." Once she notices them shrinking back from it, would there be any way for her to enhance that using her charmspeak? Since it works by suggesting that a person wants to do a thing, if she says "Lawkamercyme" while wanting them to retreat or be afraid, would that carry over and affect these shadows? Or would she add no additional power to the word itself?

If a char isn't at a castle when the event starts, will they still encounter these critters? Are they everywhere in the world or just at the castles?

THIS IS GOING TO BE THE DUMBEST QUESTION. Bear with me.

I know that powers are p. much ineffective. But if a character's powers is based off words (song) and the emotions/hopes of others would that potentially be helpful to it? Let's say if we went disney princess and tried talking to the Lawkamercyme while singing would that help '^'.

Late and possibly dumb question, but it just occurred to me. "Lawkamercyme" is basically a collection of letters that my character really has trouble with. When the word is spoken, is the effect dependent on accurate pronunciation or is it more the intent behind the word?

this is a really late question but
lydia is a banshee and her scream is really powerful and earbleedy to supernaturals
so if she screams lawkamercyme really loud would it by chance have the same effect as, say, a group of characters?
