Boon Requests

Hey, guys! Boon Requests are up, which means the fairies and imps are out and about bothering people to note down the number one item on their wishlist again! Only the fairies or imps from YOUR faction will be turning up, as usual, but they will be noting down all the ways you helped heal or slay the Ainsels and feral imps ... and where. This is echoed in the C&P box below for you to fill in and will tie into next month's event in a very exciting way!

Wherever Shard-holder characters are in the Drabwurld, at some point today they will be approached by fairies or imps, depending on their alignment, bearing a piece of parchment and a quill. They will urge your character to write down a request for an item, power or favour from their monarchs in exchange for fighting or supporting their faction and they will take it away through a fairy-ring when it is written. There are three easy rules your character will be informed MUST NOT be broken:

1) "Do not call for time and space to be bent to your will!"
2) "You may not request another's true love or devotion!"
3) "Ask not for a road home or the loved ones whence you came!"

Essentially, the OOC boundaries relayed through IC means to your character are to avoid game-breaking demands being made. They will be approved, altered or denied here so that when your character receives their boon on the morning of 23rd June (you can pick any time for them to be delivered/show up) no matter where they are there is no fuss, no muss! The royal audiences are bi-monthly and the second is due to be held on the 23rd too, which the fairies and imps will also be informing people. Feel free to link to any threads (completed or ongoing) that will qualify for a boon.

BOON REQUEST: If the fairies arrived before the 21st, Galadriel would probably ask them to wake up her daughter. Since Celebrian is on a canon update, this obviously isn't feasible. If pressed (or asked after Celebrian wakes up), she might alter this to a vague 'some means to ensure her daughter's safety and well being.'
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: I'm open for whatever, Interpret upset elf-mama's request as you will.

BOON SURPRISE!

Galadriel will receive a grand silver Cloak of Invisibility. This, when cast around a wearer, will not only render them unseen but also mask any sounds they make.

She will also receive a small potted seedling of a Mallorn tree.

Maglor will receive a photograph of Elrond (given he is currently at the Station, so it needn't be a painted likeness) in a hand-sized gilded frame. He will also receive a new warm cloak made of bandersnatch fur that will never wear out or thin.

BOON REQUEST: Gifts for those of his house or under his care (Jon, Arya, Sansa, Meera, Sigrid, Ms. Nekoi) which give them power over water and ice/some other method of protecting or defending themselves magically.
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: The spirit of the boon is just intended to give some additional power or protection to those close in his acquaintance beyond himself who... he feels needs it.

Lord Eddard Stark has requested for his boon that you are granted a protective power. This spell, when spoken, will form a dagger-like icicle in your palm: merely recite the words, Caisean-Reòta.

The Bright Lady

A fairy will be on-hand to help each person in the pronunciation of the spell, which will create a few useless blobs of ice if spoken incorrectly. The spell can be used as many times as they like but will have trouble forming icicles if surrounded by excessive heat.

A terrible fate befell this little boy in the woods of the evil witch Habetrot when she captured him and his little sister! Additionally, Loras will wake up to his chambers stuffed full of all kinds of roses that have grown into the brickwork and around the rafters, finding it rather hard to move but smelling better than ever.

Additionally, there will be a new growth of flowers outside her window with a colourful family of finches nesting inside. They will spread their wings and bow to her if she notices them, and gladly take over the duties of any fairies that serve her as her new attendants, able to understand her commands.

Aveline will receive three bronze-and-gold marigolds delivered in a fine wooden case; and with them will be instructions as to their use.

When the words chorrach shod are spoken and the stems of the flowers have been placed in the dirt, they will take root and become defensive weapons for her use. On the approach of foes, their petals (keenly sharp, once rooted) will let fly with force towards any foe of Aveline's which approaches.

BOON REQUEST: A small supply of nectar and ambrosia.
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: It's not a miracle cure or a particularly large amount or anything, but a smaller quantity is fine if it still seems like too much.

BOON REQUEST: Faolan wouldn't really request anything specific, but I think it's boring to have him pass it up SO. With a little pressing he would say that he'd like something "useful" and leave it up to the discretion of the rewarders as to what they decided to give him. Surprise me? :'Da
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: If we want this to backfire horribly, Faolan is a bard, or was before his life went horribly wrong and he gave it all up to be an assassin. If they were to give him a harp for example, thinking that he would like it... He couldn't destroy a good instrument. But he would be very torn about this. Because true boons shouldn't backfire--

Faolan will receive a rolled-leather case of assassin's tools: stiletto knives, garrot wire, fine vials and sachets of poisons, darts, and more. They roll so neatly in their leather case that one might imagine it's an artist or scribe's kit. But with the case will come a folded bit of parchment tucked inside, instructing Faolan that if the brass latches of the pack are hooked after a certain fashion, it will become invisible to all senses but touch- and that by feel alone can the latches be undone, the tools again revealed.

Peeta will receive a rolled leather case filled with expensive coloured inks, fine animal-hair brushes, chalks, and clay-based pastels. In a special loop of the leather, however, is a special, small nub of chalk set into a molded silver handle. The case comes with instructions stating that this chalk may be used to draw upon any hard surface to create magical two-way portals for his specific use, that he may have quick and easy access to the subject of his art-- wherever in the world it might be.

Unfortunately, there is only enough chalk left to make six portals in total. Only one portal may exist at a time, and Peeta himself must have drawn both sides for the portal to operate.

NUMBER OF HEALED FAIRIES/SLAIN IMPS: Due to his spell and his working in concert with Haruto, not to mention his overwhelming glee at his ability to use magic, Nitoh ended up healing over a dozen Ainsels, and killed about five imps.
LOCATION OF HEALED FAIRIES/SLAIN IMPS: Around and inside the castle, and north into the forests towards Eaglais, though he never actually got near that area, just went a bit into the forest towards it.
BOON REQUEST: Heee wants a bike. He really wants a bike. A nice mountain bike he can use to tool around the countryside. He hasn't ever ridden a horse and he is kind of embarrassed about trying since he's sure he'll be bad, but he's extra great at bike riding and can probably get around about as fast as with a horse that way.
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: I mean if there's no way a bike can be managed, he wouldn't mind a spell ring of some kind. Rings that have been canonically shown to work with his driver but that he himself never had (only an alternate universe version of him) are Small (a shrinking spell) and Dress Up (which gives him the ability to change his clothing)

NUMBER OF HEALED FAIRIES/SLAIN IMPS: No fairies healed, but a hell of a lot of imps slain as Thranduil patrols the borders of the Station while he's in fierce papa!mode. A hundred or so.
LOCATION OF HEALED FAIRIES/SLAIN IMPS: The Station.
BOON REQUEST: A cadre of generic Mirkwood marchwardens. Essentially, he wants more of his own people to rely on. Twenty or so?
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: Slam him with some more dryads or the like, if not!

When he wakes on the morning of boon disbursement, Thranduil will find that six fairies have led six elven marchwardens and captains... who had served and fallen under the reign of Oropher or Thranduil. Each retains memories only to the point of his or her death, though some may recognize each other, and each will pledge themselves to Thranduil without hesitation.

Separately will arrive six elven riders; likewise led by six fairies. Each represents a different tribal group who have been advised by the fairies that Thranduil means to carve for himself a kingdom. Each messenger confirms that the long warring between courts had done much to destroy their kingdoms of old, but that they longed for the lost security of a home and a unified kingdom. The messengers will pledge themselves to Thranduil's service if he will have them, and urge him to visit each of their clans in turn in hopes of uniting them.

She will also receive an unfinished tome on the subject, with a note from High-Queen Solais:

Dearest Lucrezia,

The author of this beautifully-illustrated manual was once the potionmaker of the castle; and was a very dear acquaintance. He was slain in the attack the Unseelie agents of Queen Morla made upon the castle not long ago. I know that in gifting it to you, it is in the best of hands; and should you pursue his good work about the castle, I may yet look to you to fill his vacant office.
