Boon Requests

Hey, palhonchos, it's Christmas Boon time! Requests are up, which means the fairies and imps are out and about bothering people from their respective factions to note down the number one item on their wishlist again!

Wherever Shard-holder characters are in the Drabwurld, at some point today they will be approached by fairies or imps, depending on their alignment, bearing a piece of parchment and a quill. They will urge your character to write down a request for an item, power or favour from their monarchs in exchange for fighting or supporting their faction and they will take it away through a fairy-ring when it is written. There are three easy rules your character will be informed MUST NOT be broken:

1) "Do not call for time and space to be bent to your will!"
2) "You may not request another's true love or devotion!"
3) "Ask not for a road home or the loved ones whence you came!"

Essentially, the OOC boundaries relayed through IC means to your character are to avoid game-breaking demands being made. They will be approved, altered or denied here until 22nd July (00:01am LONDON GMT) so that when your character receives their boon on the morning of 23rd (you can pick any time for them to be delivered/show up) no matter where they are there is no fuss, no muss! The royal audiences are bi-monthly and the third is due to be held near the end of August, which the fairies and imps will also be informing people.

This month, everybody qualifies for a boon! As an IC punishment to those who have kept their stars, anyone still in possession of one WILL NOT qualify for a boon, as stated by the monarchs ICLy on the 12th ("Champions who do not heed this request will forfeit their upcoming right to a boon. All are eligible save star-keepers.") Feel free to link to any threads (completed or ongoing) that will show your character getting involved in the event this month. Simply C&P the below into your comment:

Against all logic or reason, an unfamiliar variety of roses will begin growing in the mortar between the stones of the floor of his room, vining up the legs of his bed. When he speaks the name 'Loras', he will hear the chuckles and soft laughter of his lover.

No one else, however, will be able to achieve the same affect.

He will be provided handsome leather tack fit for a cleg as well, and notified that contacting a fellow shardbearer, Elincia, may help him in determining where and how to capture one.

POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: Really it's just a matter of keeping them safe but especially hidden when things are dangerous. The best thing I can think of would be a spell that makes people just sort of look over them and think nothing of them no matter what.

At will, her birds will now be able to become invisible for short periods of time (2 minutes or less) along with well as any small objects which they might carry.

Only those few birds currently in her service, and their descendants, will gain this ability; and it will not silence what small sounds they make.

Rather than a book, the imps shall give to Waver a small scroll. They instruct him that it has been bewitched: that if he writes a question upon the parchment, the ink will re-form into the answer of the question he writes. The scroll can be used for this until it is black with ink, they say, but already it has been half used.

Most of the answers already on the scroll seem to hint that its previous owner was seeking the manner of immortality.

Korra does indeed get a small basket of sea prunes. However, the fairy messenger meant to deliver them ate most on the journey to her room; by the time the delivery is made, only one is left.

The spirit of the Dragon of Redgate has been cloven from his body; and should he not find the manner of returning to it soon, will surely perish. Only those familiar with the touch of spirits may see or speak to him; and it is my grave wish that you find him in his weary rest in the ruins beneath the castle. Fires have been lit to light your way by helpful fairies. I know with certainty that if you aide him, he would be a powerful ally and guide to you in all things.

The wooden doll of Jack will be delivered to his room, neatly tucked into a velvet-lined, small bone box painstakingly carven on all sides to form an accurate representation of the moon and stars of the drabworld at precisely midwinter.

But it is wrapped in a child's drawing of Jack and the other guardians, and is signed by the artist: Molly. Based on a teacher's handwriting on the back of the paper, this was turned in for a kindergarten assignment to a school in Arkansas.

On nights with either a full or new moon, with great concentration, Ariadne may now teleport herself into the deep shadows of familiar places- those she has visited before- wherever they are in the world.

A pack of imps will inform her so, while happily using hot coals to burn intricate images of the moon in all its phases into the door of her manse.

BOON REQUEST: he specifically writes "whatever korra wants" but... he doesn't actually know what that is and can't think of anything.
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: WELL IT'S DEFINITELY AWKWARD NOW THAT KORRA HAS HER QUEST! and doubly so since mako will go with her on it whether or not he gets anything himself. but perhaps, since he's not as spiritually attuned as korra, and only a firebender, he get a baby atla-verse dragon? or find one, somehow. considering the seelie court recently loss daenerys and her dragons, it's a suitable replacement... if a bit small, for now.

Mako will find a curious egg deposited into his bed by a group of fairies who have had a difficult time getting it there! Carrying it along has singed their hands and wings. They insist that it's a proper dragon egg, near to hatching-- one of the last. They insist that he must keep it very warm, for 'til he had offered guardianship of such a creature, it had been kept with the pyriis of the Sisterhood.

If Mako can demonstrate regular care of the egg, it will hatch in 4 weeks' time; if his care is irregular, that time may be longer. Over the duration of his guardianship over the egg, he will feel the creature inside move as he handles it or speaks, and the egg will grow warmer at his touch.

This will cause some issue with the servants in the kitchens, which Pabu will promptly raid at every opportunity.

Else will get a snow fox kit; which will be totally unaffected by the worst of her ice magic. The fairies which bring it explain that imps had killed its mother and littermates, leaving it an easy target for other predators in the wild. The more she allows it to accompany her outside of her quarters, the easier control over her own powers will come.

It will be quite mischievous, however, and being easily able to identify her friends, may sometimes bring into her room small trinkets of theirs or items of their clothing.

This power will be imparted to his Gladius: that whenever he lifts it to the light, its edge will reflect a beam to guide him towards whatever it is he seeks. Person, place, item (or even a hot meal), whatever he desires!

The drawback, of course, is that it won't work in the dark.

BOON REQUEST: as per stiles's suggestion, she'll ask for some form of personal shield or magical forcefield to quote-unquote keep others from being able to lay a hand on her. in the interest of character development and taking baby steps, i would love if the shield's efficacy could perhaps be tied to sansa's fortitude/certainty/bravery in the moment. essentially, she will have to slowly learn to have more confidence and strength of will if she ever hopes to use the shield to any effect. perhaps the monarchs want to encourage her to work on her confidence in this fashion? otherwise she'd hide behind a shield and stay weak and skittish.
POSSIBLE ALTERATIONS: if the above isn't possible (such as if the monarchs are unlikely to provide one of their charges with such an initially unreliable form of protection), then WILDCARD please.

The spell taught in the tome relies on willpower and concentration, and will teach her an impressively powerful defensive spell which may be used to protect herself and other nearby persons.

The Drabwurld lies between all realms. It is the first and last place a soul experiences, the home of Dark and Light in their purest forms. It is difficult for us to say what happens in your world when you leave, as our focus is on bringing you to us, here, but in the process it sometimes happen that we learn a little about these varied and distant places.

Your world in particular has determined your fate for you, in the form of your parentage. Flight was your mother's great gift, and your truest love: and I have made effort that you should make a great journey to visit the sylphs of the mountaintops. They will teach you the manner of unlocking the wings of your mother's people, and using them to aide you in flight.

A hammered-gold bowl will be delivered to Clara's room by a few fairies, who insist that she hide it as soon as she accepts it, as it is a very powerful gift,and once belonged to The Oracle. They inform her that if she fills it with rainwater and set it at the sill of her window (or anywhere else) so that the water catches dawn's light, it will reveal visions of the past or the future to her.

It can only be used once in a month unless she grows her own skill with magic, and may reveal visions of battles, information on the quests of her companions, and significant moments from the quests of long-dead shardholders.

The fairies will instruct her that a stall has been cleared for her in the stables, and tack in black and gold made bearing her sigil waits there... but they also say that Pegasi have been hunted to near extinction, and the last herds remaining to the world are hidden and protected by sylphs of the Sisterhood. Earning the friendship of a sylph might earn her the location of said beasts; alternatively, she is also shown that herds of ceffyl dwr live in the mountains beyond the castle, and that if she wants to lure one to her service, there is indeed a trick to luring them close to a hopeful captor and rider:

The imps carry to her an ancient and crumbling scroll; sufficiently studying it, over time, will allow Alexia to manipulate metal using only the exertion of her willpower. Unfortunately, at its beginning, this power will be relatively weak: she would be able to halt knives and swords, and lift nothing heavier than a book.

A handsome raven will be brought to her on the wrist of a servant of the castle, as well as a few handsomely potted plants to suit her needs. However, a small, handwritten note will inform her that if she commands the raven to 'athraigh', it will become an obedient black adder.

What magic she works with this familiar on-hand will be far more powerful than magic she has worked prior to.
